(Biography from IMDB)

Writer/Director Jason Rosette works in a wide range of genres and media, alternating between features, documentaries, and commissioned entertainment and edutainment.

His first feature movie, 'BookWars' ("Terrific" - LA Times), was released in the year 2000 to wide critical acclaim, despite its guerilla-filmmaking origins. The film won the Best Documentary award at its very first festival screening (the New York Underground Film Festival), was nominated for an IFP Gotham award, and was broadcast internationally on Arte/ZDF, NHK, SVT, PBS, Bravo, and other channels.

His debut dramatic feature as writer/director, the road movie 'Lost in New Mexico' was heralded by the Moving Arts Journal as "a unique and interesting take on the fluidity of technology versus the recurring commonality of the human condition", adding that 'It would be interesting to see Rosette's obvious abilities supported by a professional cast and crew and studio-grade equipment'.

Mr. Rosette has lived and worked in Asia since 2004, and has produced a number of original and commissioned films and media in the region. He is the founder of two regional film festivals there: CamboFest, Film and Video Festival of Cambodia, and the Bangkok IndieFest in Thailand.

While in SE Asia, Mr. Rosette, known also by his Asian aka 'Jack Ro', has directed numerous shorts and documentaries while developing several long form projects. Most recently, he wrote, directed, and co-produced the supernatural historical dramatic movie, 'Freedom Deal: Story of Lucky' set in 1970 during the US-Vietnam conflict along the Cambodian border.

He also works as a location manager, and coordinator for international productions visiting the region - producers visiting the ASEAN (SE Asia) region, kindly contact here

Mr. Rosette's first movie, 'The Hitman', was co-produced at age 12 with friends in various Ohio backyards in 1980. Some years later, he attended the undergraduate Film and TV Program at New York University as a Trustee Scholar. Films made at NYU included such local East Village classics as: 'Be Nice', 'I, Janus', 'Chuck', and 'Salt'.

Mr. Rosette wrote and directed his first fully independent film, the Noirish psychological drama 'Charlie's Box' in 1991, with a print release in 1994; the movie was later re-released digitally and is now available on VOD and other platforms.

He is also an active photographer (as seen here), is a trained actor, and an experienced voice talent. He acted in off-off Broadway in New York City between 1999 and 2003, where he played the leading role in New York City's longest continuously running play, 'Line', by Israel Horowitz. Mr. Rosette is frequently cast as an ambivalent 'seeker' character, or as an agent or underworld figure.

A Fulbright Hayes grant recipient for the years 2008-2010, Mr. Rosette gained his Masters of Arts degree in development studies from the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2010.

Aside from ongoing photography and other media, future long-form projects include the Vietnam-War era feature drama, 'Freedom Deal' (in active development to shoot in Cambodia and Thailand), and the feature length US comedy, 'Final Countdown'.
